Hoodoo Gurus - Stoneage Romeos Remastered
I first heard the Hoodoo Gurus on a college radio station here in Melbourne, Florida (WFIT), the year was 1983. I can't remember the exact track (maybe Leilani?) I first heard from the Australian bands debut "Stoneage Romeos" but I do remember my reaction - Wow! This was (and still is) an album full of "garagey" pop punk songs and one that did not sound like anything else at the time. To this day, it still sounds as fresh and relevant as it did in 1983.
The Hoodoo Gurus formed in Sydney, Australia on January 1, 1981. Their first single "Leilani", followed by "Tojo" and "My Girl" was released in 1983 from their debut "Stoneage Romeos" which was named the Australian debut album of the year. In America, the album stayed at the #1 spot on the Alternative College charts for 7 weeks and was one of the most played albums of 1983.
