New Music Mix
A couple of these will be coming out in the next few weeks and some are already out. A couple might have been around for awhile but have just recently made it to my ears. The constant but wonderful onslaught of new music is at times overwhelming but in the end nice. I have not even done proper justice to the promo emails I receive everyday and I know that I am missing some good stuff. I need to set aside one whole day to dig thru the emails instead of just passing them by. There are a lot of new indie bands that need the exposure and the major part of blogging is to help get the exposure to these new bands. So, I need to work on that more. Hopefully, this weekend I can get up a post or two from the email inbox.
The new Sea And Cake promises to be a good one and follows in the mellow class of smooth bedroom pop as in earlier releases.
And I could give a shit about Kings Of Leon being on a major label and such. I like the band and their new one rocks out nicely.
I am not sure yet about Feist even amid all the hype. The vocals are beautiful though and I need to spend more time with the album.
I have been a fan of Maria Taylor mainly through her work in Azure Ray. Her new one is a charmer and I just love her voice.
Sweden's The Radio Dept. is right up my musical alley. Hazy guitars, smooth synths and that wonderful 80's feel to the music. Check out the MBV type guitar sound on Every Time - well done.
The Stars - Do You Trust Your Friends? is really great, every song from 2005's Set Yourself On Fire is covered by a different artist. I was not very familiar with Jason Collett but I love his version of Reunion.
And lastly, I am a little late on Menomena but will say it has grown on me. I need to spend more time with it to get the full effect.
mp3 Middlenight
The Sea And Cake - Everybody
mp3 Camaro
Kings Of Leon - Because of the Times
mp3 The Limit To Your Love
Feist - The Reminder
mp3 Small Part Of Me
Maria Taylor - Lynn Teeter Flower
mp3 Every Time
The Radio Dept. - Pet Grief
mp3 Reunion (Jason Collett)
Stars - Do You Trust Your Friends?
mp3 Evil Bee
Menomena - Friend and Foe
